Call of Duty: Black Ops II Announced

By John Wheal on May 2, 2012

The announcement of the new Call of Duty Black Ops II came as expected earlier today. What wasn’t so expected was the story outlined in the trailer. If you are a Black Ops fan and was hoping for more of the same then you might be disappointed. Although some of the story is set in the 80s the majority will take place in 2025. China has risen to become the world super power and a bitter dispute has risen over the earth’s precious resources. Meanwhile the enemy has managed to turn the US’s weapons (drones) against themselves.

The trailer clearly shows a lot of future technology including flying robots and new missile guiding systems. How realistic is this? Only time will tell. The story does raise some important points that can be related to modern day. What happens if the enemy gets hold of the keys?

The trailer also shows shots of New York, Los Angeles and even riding on horseback in Afghanistan. Reports also indicate that you can fly jets and take part in first person drone battles.

Overall this trailer reveals a lot about the forthcoming Black Ops. The new technology, although futuristic, isn’t unbelievable nor is the story. It is due for release on 13/11/2012.
